Submissive Advent – Day 4: Rewards for Service

This entry is part 5 of 25 in the series Submissive Advent Calendar

Today is day 4 of the Submissive Advent Calendar. If you missed yesterday’s post you can  go back to that now, or  rewind all the way to the beginning. You can also  read the introduction post.

Being rewarded for our submission often feeds our pleasure center once in a while but it’s not required. We all know this on some level that rewards come in all shape and size. While I love hearing, “good girl” as much as the next girl, I am just as pleased with a smile, a hug or a sense of a job well done. In some of the social circles, I frequent is the following thought process:

“Do not be like servants who serve their masters expecting to receive a reward; be rather like servants who serve their master unconditionally, with no thought of reward.” – Antigonus of Sokho

Sure, that works for some slaves and submissives out there, but I’m not service oriented. I’m obedience oriented. And with that comes a desire and sometimes a need to be recognized for being obedient. But I’m getting off track a bit. This post is about you and your rewards.

Today activity is to think about the rewards you’ve received in recent months for the submission and service you perform. It doesn’t have to be in a D/s context either. Reflect on the awards you’ve been granted and the recognition you’ve achieved. Remember that some of the greatest rewards are not material in nature.
