Submissive Advent – Day 1: In Wait

This entry is part 2 of 25 in the series Submissive Advent Calendar

Welcome to the first day of Submissive Advent. Every day we’ll learn more about ourselves, our relationship or perspective relationships and our submission.

Shakespeare has a couple of sonnets that are often used as poems of submission and service. Today, I’d like to share Sonnet 57:

Being your slave what should I do but tend Upon the hours, and times of your desire? I have no precious time at all to spend; Nor services to do, till you require. Nor dare I chide the world without end hour, Whilst I, my sovereign, watch the clock for you, Nor think the bitterness of absence sour, When you have bid your servant once adieu; Nor dare I question with my jealous thought Where you may be, or your affairs suppose, But, like a sad slave, stay and think of nought Save, where you are, how happy you make those. So true a fool is love, that in your will, Though you do anything, he thinks no ill.

The Advent is a period of anticipation, in wait for something special. This month, that something special will hopefully be a new personal realization in yourself and your submissive nature. Take a moment today and select 2 lines from the sonnet above that touches you and your current position in life.  Write it out on a note card or piece of paper and tape it to your bathroom mirror or computer monitor.  Use it as a reflective mantra this month.

What lines did you select? Why does it speak to you right now?
