How to Find a BDSM Munch Group in Your Area

Question: I am still fairly new to this (six months).  I love having Submissive Guide, but wish I could connect with other submissives in my area.  Does anyone know how to find groups/gatherings?

Answer:

It’s going to require a bit of digging to find local groups and you should decide now how far you’re willing to travel for a group event. Searching for local groups is getting harder, and the Pandemic caused the permanent retirement of so many groups. You can still find websites for local groups, but they may not be active anymore either.

A group event that meets face-to-face is often called a munch. A munch is a portmanteau word of meeting and lunch. They are often held in restaurants and coffee shops, sometimes bars and pubs. The expectation is to get to know each other in a non-kink setting. It also is a safe space to meet in public with no pressure to do anything you aren’t ready to do yet.

Within more established groups there can be role-specific events such as submissive roundtables, Dominant forums, and more. So once you get into a group, you have a chance to find and interact with even more facets of your BDSM interests.

These days the place to find events and local groups is FetLife (http://www.fetlife.com). FetLife has an entire section dedicated to event listings. If you use the search function you may find BDSM munch groups and discussions in and around your location.

If you’re still not ready for meeting in person, there are virtual events and classes you can attend as well. FetLife has those listings for you too. Submissive Guide also had a Discord server where you can get support and advice as well as make some great friends. You can join our Discord at http://subgui.de/chat
